Autumn has arrived, those long hazy summer days have passed and the darker nights have started to sneak in on us again. With half term only a few weeks away, we have had a look at some of the great activities that are happening in our area over the next few weeks.
Halloween at Blenheim Palace near The Manor Country House Hotel, Oxfordshire
From 23rd-30th October Blenheim Palace are set to entertain all ages with their fantastic Halloween themed event over half term. With a spooky ghost train to the Pleasure Gardens, Spooky Tours running through the week, as well as Candlelit Tours in the evening of Halloween weekend, there is much to keep everyone entertained, including pumpkin carving and “ice-scream” for the youngsters.
Halloween at Oxford Castle Unlocked, near The Manor Country House Hotel, Oxfordshire
The historic Oxford Castle is steeped in history, dating back 1000 years. There are a host of spooky events to attend this Halloween. For the children there is Trick or Treat and Pumping carving to entertain the little devils. For intense and spooky events not for the faint hearted include the Truth or Dare Tour, Halloween Midnight Tour and The Dark Side of the Paranormal, with Living TV’s Most Haunted parapsychologist Ciaran O’Keefe.
Halloween at Millets Farm Centre, near The Manor Country House Hotel, Oxfordshire
The friendly Millets Farm Centre is as always planning a whole host of Halloween fun this coming half term. Pick your own pumpkins, then carve your own designs, Take a trip through the Phantom Farm Millets Maize Maze or enjoy John Lawson’s Halloween Circus. Frosts Garden Centre also has The House of Hocus Pocus, getting ready for Halloween with apple dunking, treats and a spooky story from the friendly Frosts’ witch.
History of the Manor Country House Hotel, Oxfordshire
The Manor is steeped in history, dating back to 16th Century, with a whole host of different inhabitants. There are ghostly rumours of Mad Maude who is said to haunt Room 7, with some people telling tales of an icy presence being felt, although you could be mistaken for your imagination working in overdrive, as the historical and beautiful rooms of the Manor are inspiring and spark the imagination.
